Repairs pumps of paper making machinery: Examines pumps for
malfunctioning and to locate daamge or wear, such as blowout
packing, misalignment of pump shaft, slippage of drive belt,
worn bearings, or need for lubrication. Observes operation of
pumps and feels for heat and vibration of parts to detect cause
of malfunctoining. Dismantles pumps and performs repairs, such
as cleannig impellers, repacking stuffing boxes, tightening
glands, and replacing bearings, using handtools.
